Summary
You will drive the overall strategic vision for the segment; ultimately positioning this segment for year over year growth. You will need to develop a deep understanding of the market(s) and partner with cross-functional teams throughout Lubrizol to identify new sub-segments and innovation opportunities that are significant, valuable, and defendable while returning sustainable and profitable growth. As a high priority growth segment for Lubrizol, this role comes with high-visibility and high-expectations.
Responsibilities
* Develop a deep market understanding about our medical product line. Explore and learn any global differences in product requirements and customer expectations. * Lead effort to analyze markets and market trends, and make recommendations concerning product strategy. * Develop a growth strategy for the each regional market. * Monitor changes in the global market and its competitive dynamics and review strategy accordingly on an ongoing basis. * Monitor progress against the defined strategy identifying and agreeing on actions/new initiatives with the regional sales managers, R&D managers and others. * Conduct customer interviews across our value chain and identify trends and unmet needs. * Identify and develop target markets through value and opportunity analysis. * Implement a customer value proposition model based on market/customer segmentation. Modify our value positions to adapt for success to customers. * Identify gaps in our current capabilities and develop action plans to address them. * Influence all the resources needed to work on solutions. * Identify, generate and capture more value from both new and existing solutions. * Identify key customer prospects in targeted markets and establish strong collaborative relationships. * Provide strong leadership, influence and help gain the resources on the global team within our Marketing, R&D, Sales, Platform, and product management to grow the segments. * Work with product management and where possible with customers to establish global marketing communications plans for the segments. * Work with Global Platform Manager/Pricing Leader to establish product pricing and profitability targets/requirements for sales. Monitor segment/product profitability and identify corrective actions where necessary to optimize our success.
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * Bachelor’s Degree required, an MBA is strongly preferred * Highly competent in developing and implementing strategies * Strong commercial development acumen including value chain analysis, application economics, customer needs analysis, definition of value proposition, and market positioning * Willing and able to travel 30-40% (globally) * Demonstrated leadership capabilities and proven success in a matrix organization * Located in (or willing to relocate to) the Cleveland, Ohio area **Ideal Candidate Profile:** * Outstanding B2B Marketer capable of growing a mature business: * 3+ years of marketing experience in the medical device industry is preferred as well
