Summary
The Lubrizol Corporation has an immediate need for highly motivated, results-oriented Corporate Technology Portfolio Manager for our Lubrizol Advanced Materials business at its facility in Brecksville, Ohio. This critical position supports the organic growth agenda of the Corporation by cultivating and incubating a portfolio of development projects with transformative growth potential. The portfolio spans internal capabilities and resources as well as those found in universities, research institutes, and strategic partners. The portfolio manager assesses opportunities, determines fit with Lubrizol strategic interests, fosters relationships with stakeholders, establishes priorities and makes funding decisions.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage a portfolio of corporate sponsored strategic projects of significant and measurable value to the businesses. * Identify new areas of growth which will benefit multiple Lubrizol business segments or leverage technology synergies between businesses. * Identify and evaluate new technology opportunities that can be leveraged across multiple business units as a platform for new growth * Work with Lubrizol’s business units to determine the value of proposed growth opportunities. * Act as coach and mentor for opportunity champions and project leaders. Identify the specific needs and resources to accelerate opportunity development or project progress. Make personnel decisions on opportunities and projects as necessary. * Deliver on corporate portfolio milestones and metrics. * Personally make connections and cultivate growth opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 10 years of experience in technology management coupled with commercial development experience * Entrepreneurial background * Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities * Strong oral & written communication skills * Must be comfortable and confident in selling their ideas and providing their opinions to senior-level management * Broad experience in a variety of specialty chemical and advanced materials markets * Proactive and tenacious * Good at making connections with people and ideas * Strategic thinker; analytical and detail oriented; problem-solver * Willingness and ability to explore new technical, business and market areas * Must be well versed in the marketplace so that they can predict whether a product or service has enough strength to succeed. * A technical degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. PhD or MBA is considered a plus
