Summary
Designs, configures and supports all Linux Systems as well as related infrastructure and recommends standards and processes for implementation and support of solutions to provide a functional, productive and cost effective infrastructure for all technology platforms.
Responsibilities
* Strong working knowledge of Linux (SuSE/RedHat), with basic storage fundamentals and an understanding of major networking concepts. * Develop and recommend Linux and virtual solutions, improvements, standards and internal processes to efficiently and cost effectively meet the technology needs of our internal users. * Provide top level technical support for all internal technology users of linux and virtual solutions and related infrastructure. * Propose technical changes based upon linux and virtual solutions performance and capacity data to ensure cost effective continued fulfillment of internal technology users' needs. * Review technical details of outages to services provided by virtual and Linux solutions to establish potential impact and future risk to availability of services and recommend course of action to minimize risk of future service outages. * Evaluate planned technical changes in other MIS areas to solutions which interact with linux and virtual solutions and recommend any necessary actions to ensure continued functionality of linux and virtual solutions for our internal technology users.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field. * Minimum 3 years experience providing technical support within an Enterprise Linux or Virtual environment. * Strong working knowledge ofLinux, File systems, scripting, and basic storage fundamentals with an understanding of major networking concepts. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours to complete implementations and resolve issues. * Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds. * Must have 4 year college degree to be hired for this role.
