The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office, and support all national security space programs.
Summary
Aerospace is looking for an entry level Software Engineer to join our growing Software Systems and Acquisition Department (SSAD) team, the corporation's East Coast center of excellence for software architecture modeling and acquisition.
Responsibilities
* Provide support in software architecture modeling and acquisition of software systems to space, ground, and launch programs in the commercial, civil, and national security domains. * Support development of models of software system architectures in embedded and/or cloud-based environments (private, commercial, and hybrid). * Participate in technology studies, code analyses, independent assessments, and research efforts. * Support the conduct of software research related to customer challenge problems; help develop prototype solutions. * Prepare technical reports and presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information to a wide audience.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related technical discipline required with at least a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. **Required Qualifications** * Experience or coursework in software engineering and/or development of complex, software-reliant systems. * Ability to work in teams and individually. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience implementing and/or acquiring desktop IT or "- as a Service" solutions. * Experience with cloud/virtualized environments, assessment of applications for migration to the cloud, performance analysis of cloud applications, experience setting up cloud environments, and/or experience working with commercial cloud environments (e.g., Amazon Web Services). * Experience on critical, large scale/large team systems or software intensive systems for space. * Experience in software/IT acquisition, source code analysis, model-based software engineering, and/or software metrics. **Physical Requirements/Work Environment** * While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment. Position requires sitting most of the time at a workstation, using a computer. * Exposure to general office noise * Local travel to off-site meetings and air travel to Aerospace or Customer office locations is required. * Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and by telepresence.
