Summary
The Education Advisory Board (EAB) is looking for a multi-talented Software Engineer with programming, machine learning, and data processing skills to help create and improve modern analytics services for applications used by students and administrators at over 200 colleges and universities. These tools impact student success by helping people make better choices about courses, majors, and other activities, enabling more students to graduate and get the most out of their education. Your primary role on the Data Science team will be to build things systems and frameworks for large-scale data analytics, workflow tools for machine learning, web apps for data visualization, and more.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with quantitative researchers and data scientists to integrate machine-learning models into production software systems * Build software tools for end-to-end products based on machine learning and analytics * Manage data processing pipelines for analyzing gigabyte to terabyte-scale data from multiple sources * Communicate and coordinate effectively with product managers, software engineers, and customer-facing teams * Perform other technical tasks as needed, including writing technical documentations, project reports, managing, implementing, and/or maintaining technical infrastructure, etc.
Ideal Candidate
**Must Haves:** * Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent education and experience * 3+ years of professional experience in commercial software development * Familiarity with data science, statistical analysis, analytics, or business intelligence * Database design and SQL-based data cleansing, transformation, summarization, and analysis * Working knowledge of R Programming or hands-on experience with another high-level programming language in a related context * Experience working on a diverse team * Ability to present to, communicate with, and collaborate well with non-technical people * Demonstrated interest in learning a wide range of new skills **Even Better:** * Education: Master’s Degree or PhD in a quantitative field, or equivalent experience * Experience with data warehousing, data pipeline management * Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Linux systems administration, DevOps experience * Experience with statistics and scientific methods * Experience in EdTech or Higher Education effectiveness * Active in your professional community
