Summary
The Director of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) (full-time, salaried, regular) will lead in-house SEO across TEN's entire Automotive digital portfolio including MotorTrend.com, HotRod.com, FourWheeler.com, Automobilemag.com, Automotive.com and dozens of other well-known brands. This position will be responsible for collaborating with our dynamic internal digital teams and external SEO agency partners to drive significant growth in organic search engine traffic. This role will be positioned and the authoritative SEO voice and thought-leader within the organization.
Responsibilities
* Define and evangelize the overall TEN Automotive SEO strategy to the organization across digital, engineering and content teams. * Balance the needs and objectives of strict, technical SEO requirements with those of UX, Product Management, Social Media/Marketing, Engineering and Content teams to maximize overall traffic to and yield from TEN’s web properties. * Manage search engine infrastructure for TEN’s web properties. * Monitor and optimize performance of the websites for the various natural search engines. * Define, implement and test strategies to increase conversion rates against key objectives across web properties. * Create and optimize website copy, on-page elements, meta tags, etc. to support websites and ranking metrics. * Optimize the information architecture, structure, URL format, and filenames of existing and new website sections. * Create SEO flow charts and specification documents for new digital product and feature releases in coordination with external SEO agency partners and internal product development teams. * Leverage licensed SEO applications and internal automation tools (link checkers, crawlers, redirect validation) to ensure smooth product releases and ongoing SEO optimization. * Maintain internal SEO best practices documentation. * Monitor and communicate search engine trends, algorithms, and best practices in the marketplace. * Regularly provide succinct reporting on the SEO health of the product portfolio to executives, up to and including the President and CEO. * Organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects while working independently in a deadline driven environment.
Ideal Candidate
**Education/Experience:** * 5+ years of SEO experience in web environment, preferably on high-traffic sites. * Must have a proven track record with organic search engine optimization. * Bachelor's Degree in computer, business or marketing related discipline is preferred. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** * Familiarity with online monetization strategies (online marketing, display advertising, contextual advertising). * Strong project management skills; process oriented, organized and detailed. * Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including assessing situations, managing conflicts, evaluating options and establishing cogent recommendations to executives. * Solid understanding of the agile product development cycle. * Ability to multi-task and manage priorities based on opportunity, risk and impact to business. * Flexible working styles to adapt to various personalities in cross-functional teams. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate across all levels in the organization. * Strong team work and leadership skills. * Strong understanding of web development process. * Solid understanding of search engines, and their algorithms and behaviors. * Up to date knowledge of current industry trends, best practices, and broad cross-functional strategies related to SEO. * Direct experience working in a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, sales, marketing, and engineering. * Significant exposure to consumer facing internet products. * Prior experience within the automotive space is a plus, but not required. * Experience/familiarity with HTML, Javascript, CSS, and other programming languages preferred. * Experience with keyword and page rank analysis. * Able to work independently and in a team environment. * Excellent communication skills; verbal and written. * Extremely detail oriented and thrives in a fast-paced deadline oriented environment. **Physical Requirements:** * The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen. **Equipment/Software Used:** * Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence Wiki, etc.) * Basecamp, Crazy Egg, Optimizely * Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics * SearchMetrics, Google Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, etc. **Work Environment:** * Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
