Responsibilities

Summary:

This hybrid accounting/finance position is responsible for the end-to-end Capital Projects Cycle at Telx. Responsibilities include the monthly closing of the fixed asset sub-ledger, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of account analysis, reconciliations and reporting requirements. Capital projects account for one of the largest spend categories in the Internet Infrastructure Industry. This is a high visibility role interacting with senior leadership across accounting, finance, and operations. Individual will be responsible to ensure smooth running end-to-end process from budgeting, interaction with operations teams, financial statement disclosure, and analysis and board reporting of capital project data.

Responsibilities:

  • Key liaison between finance group and Datacenter Operations teams on expansion projects.
  • Redesign end-to-end Capex process to gain efficiency, while ensuring correct accounting in Telx FS and better reporting capabilities to leadership (holistic view, budgeting, purchase ordering, receiving, and accounting).
  • In depth analysis of identified accounting related issues, implement changes and revise Fixed Asset policy.
  • Research and lead implementation of new fixed assets system in line with Telx’s needs as a high growth company.
  • Assist with the budgeting process with regard to capital project related expenses.
  • Responsible for Capex accounting, BS reconciliation, audit support relating to fixed assets (one direct report)
  • This position is also responsible for the recording of necessary month end accruals and initial reviews of depreciation expense.
  • Responsible to accounting/tracking maintenance expenses.
  • Lead Capex budget development and tracking responsible for over $80M in annual expenditures.
  • Provide updates & data to planning and budgeting group for board presentations
  • Perform special projects, ad hoc reports and schedules requested by management
Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have an outgoing personality, excellent communication skills, and strong oral/written presentation skills.
  • Experience with project management strongly preferred
  • Experience managing people.
  • CPA required, mix of public and private accounting strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firms a plus.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in accounting and finance.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel or other comparable spreadsheet tools. Proficiency with rest of Microsoft Office suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer) and or/equivalents.
  • Proven organizational ability and attention to detail a must.
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, and able to work within and meet deadlines.
  • Strong PC skills and a working knowledge of accounting packages.

Desired Job Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience with SAP Business One and a fixed asset sub ledger system.
  • Experience with capital projects/Fixed asset processes, systems, and issues.
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized with excellent communications, interpersonal and oral/written presentation skills.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with rest of Microsoft Office suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer) and or/equivalents.
  • Proven organizational ability and attention to detail.
