Summary
TEKsystems is seeking a NOC technician for a fast growing company in West MI! We are seeking a Network Operations Center professional to join our team for a 3rd shift position. NOC Technicians care for and oversee the extensive network. Using state of the art tools and technologies, the NOC monitors the entire network and manages all trouble tickets associated with services running across it. NOC Technicians are responsible for inbound and outbound phone and E-Mail support to all of this companies clients, and work closely with vendors, manufacturers, and internal engineers to ensure prompt repair of all issues on the network.
Responsibilities
* Monitor Equipment Management Systems for trouble alerts * Troubleshoot and resolve all network alerts and alarms * Receive, Prioritize, and Process inbound trouble tickets via E-Mail and Phone * Document, in detail, all updates and work performed on each trouble ticket * Provide hourly updates to internal and external customers regarding all outages and network incidents * Provision network and customer-premise equipment for deployment * Assist in the development and design of new products and services * Oversee and manage all maintenance activity performed on the network * Analyze all outage incidents to identify better ways of ensuring optimal network uptime * Assist in creating new business processes to increase NOC operational efficiency * Provide technical support and training to other departments as needed * Participate in the on-call rotation as needed * Develop internal IT Systems to further business goals * All other duties and assignments of a technical or business nature required by management
Ideal Candidate
* Familiarity with linux / unix * Familiarity with Windows Server environments * Extensive knowledge of Layer 2 technologies * Familiarity with IPv4, and IPv6 * Working knowledge of common routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, ERPS, LACP, MPLS) * Extensive knowledge of DNS, HTTP, SSH, Telnet, SNMP, SMTP, TFTP, and FTP * Working knowledge of VoIP and IPTV * Working knowledge of TDM (DS1/DS3/OC3/OC48) services * Understanding of Fiber Optic technologies including DWDM **Education and Experience Requirements:** * 1 year of working in a service-provider environment * 1 year of experience working with TDM networks * 2 years of experience working with Layer-2 networks * 2 years of experience working in a helpdesk or call center environment * 1 year of experience working with Cisco IOS / IOS XR
