The Manager, Public and Community Relations works cross-functionally throughout the organization to develop external communication plans and community relations strategies that shape public perception of the company and its constituents. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining relationships with local, trade, and national media outlets; effectively leveraging social media platforms for public/community relations functions and marketing campaigns; responding to media requests in a timely manner to meet urgent deadlines; researching, drafting, distributing, and pitching press releases and related content; and developing and executing the company’s corporate philanthropic efforts. Must be able to find, develop and translate Tech Data’s value and voice across many functional areas into newsworthy communications.
- Manage the company’s Public Relations function. Establishing and maintaining relationships with local, regional, trade, and national media outlets to secure positive coverage of the company and its activities; work with internal stakeholders to develop content for various communication channels and audiences. Act as primary company spokesperson with members of the media.
- Develop and manage the company’s Community Relations function. Establishing and maintain relationships with non-profit and charitable organizations; working with executive leadership, HR, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement a corporate philanthropy strategy and processes for donations and company volunteerism.
- Develop and manage the company’s social media outreach. Actively develop and maintain the company’s social presence and existing and new social channels. Serve as go-to resource for the company on social best practices and content oversight.
- Work with other members of the Corporate Communications team to integrate messaging across external, internal, and social channels to ensure consistent messaging.
- Manages and develops Corporate Communications Specialist

- Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Experience: 5+ relevant work experience
- Able to adjust readily to change and adapt as needed
- Able to be immobile for long extended periods

- Able to use common office equipment
- Able to use relevant computer system applications at an advanced level
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
