Summary
The QA Manager is a software testing expert who makes decisions regarding product quality and dictates technical standards, including software testing standards, tools, and platforms. Responsible for leading and/or participating in testing complex software solutions. This individual works with senior management to enhance quality and process standards and to plan and execute effective and efficient test approaches to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products. The individual is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of QA testing including different testing methodologies, legacy products, and new innovation/acquisition product and will dictate the technical standards.
Responsibilities
* Manage Multiple Projects, Epics, Stories or Internal Stories * Manage Multiple Teams and People (internal and external) * Work with others across departments to schedule resources based on availability and expertise * Participate in all daily technical standup meetings * Act as the communication channel between quality analyst, testers and other departments * Work with Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Client Managers, Customers and others to understand and clarify business requirements and translate those requirements into test plans and test cases. * Act as gatekeeper for all projects coming into or going out of development. * Hire new employees as required * Work with other areas of the organization to clear any roadblocks to getting projects finished on time and within budget * Create Test Plans * Create Manual Test Cases * Create Automated Test Cases * Lead a group of testers into Testing the Product and note the results * Train cross functional teams from across the company on testing methodology and test case execution * Conduct Load and Stress Tests * Conduct Security Testing * Report, track and test defects which result from software testing * Conduct Test Plan Reviews, Test Case Reviews and Code Reviews for Automated Testing. * Participate in Requirements Review * Participate in Analysis and Specification Review * Participate in Regression Test Cycles * Participate in daily technical standup meetings * Participate in Releases from QA to UAT and from UAT to Production * Work with Development to validate the Testing Frameworks. * Train and mentor new testers as necessary * Be (or become) the subject matter across multiple areas of the product. * Guide a Team of software testers and quality analysts to achieve the goals of a project * Work with others within the department to schedule resources based on availability and expertise * Work with Development to validate the Testing Frameworks. * Conduct research into new testing technology that can have a positive impact on the product line
Ideal Candidate
* Familiarity with IBM Tools and Products such as WebSphere and DB2. * Testing experience in a java environment. * Experience testing in a SaaS/cloud environment. * Experience with Kanban methodology * Insurance industry experience * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must be dependable, reliable and punctual. **CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:** * Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in related disciplines. Master's degree is a plus. * 8-10 years of software quality experience with progressive advancement in a professional working environment * Ability to own the entire testing process from start to finish (i.e., create test plans, create/execute test cases, UAT, etc.) on a variety of projects * Must be able to work with senior management to enhance quality and process standards and to plan and execute effective and efficient test approaches to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products. * Strong understanding of SDLC and all the testing methodologies * Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external Clients; ability to effectively work with any coworker within the team or division; ability to transfer knowledge and translate technical concepts to non-technical resources and coworkers; excellent verbal and written communication skills * Knowledge of Databases and ability to write intermediate SQL code is a must * Experience working with Web Services and API is preferred.
