Operational Database Administrator III

The Database Administrator III provides advanced support for the organizations database environments. Will document and maintain the production, test and development databases, ensuring the security and integrity of data and granting access to data for approved business purposes. The DBA will interface with the various groups and department heads to implement policies and procedures as it relates to database usage and design.

* Performs database performance analysis, tuning and maintenance to ensure continued data integrity and optimal performance. * Develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company production databases. * Implements upgrades, tuning and database optimization as required in compliance with the change management process. * Performs Analysis. Writes and executes DB scripts. Performs Data base migration. * Creates and runs queries, stored procedures and scripts to handle database operations. Develops and deploys complex production reports. * Validates that production system changes have been implemented successfully. Supports month-end close processes. * Supports and develops staff in their triage of production issues and troubleshoots. * Identifies needed service levels and ensures that critical database systems are available and functioning properly as they relate to the defined service levels. * Coordinates with technical team during technical architecture design, development and delivery of product changes and enhancements. * Assigns tasks to other database administrators on the IT Operations team. * Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. * Responds to database support calls received during and after hours. * Participates in the continuous process improvement projects of the Product Delivery department in support and attainment of corporate goals and divisional goals and objectives. * Strong ability to effectively communicate with peers and management and create and maintain a professional learning environment. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must be dependable, reliable and punctual. * Analysis of business requirements. * Hardware configuration design, performance tuning, and scalability. * Work collaboratively with multiple teams of developers, analysts, project managers, and QA personnel to develop and support enterprise-level software products. * Research new tools, technologies, and techniques and provide recommendations and best practices. * Mentor or coach junior level resources. * Act as the gatekeeper for all database and script changes for production promotion. * Verifies successful implementation of database changes. * Assisting the Business Analysis and QA teams with data modeling.

* Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server or DB2 and related tools. * Strong experience of relational databases, backup and restore operations, DB logins/permissions, stored procedures, schema, triggers, and database maintenance activity. * Ability to work with and understand other database platforms (e.g. Sybase, MySQL). * Demonstrates a strong understanding of the database development life cycle including data modeling, database coding, testing, and implementation. * Understanding of database design and best practices. * Experience with data integration software and development of enterprise data, information architecture, and models. * Experience with hardware configuration design as it pertains to DB performance and scalability. **CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration or related disciplines or equivalent certifications and work experience. * Five (5) to eight (8) years of overall technology experience. * 5+ years direct experience working with SQL or DB2. * Knowledge of BI practices and tools and experience with ETL is a plus * Experience with ITIL or Agile methodology is a plus.
