Summary
In our SF Innovation office, you will be the “CTO “ for Target’s push in the IoT space. We are looking someone that likes to disrupt industries and has the right mix of engineering expertise, leadership finesse and is comfortable thinking + doing with other people who have a lot of passion. In the roles, you will have a direct impact on the innovation of cutting edge technologies.
Responsibilities
You will set the technical vision for the team and lead a group of high caliber engineering talent as well as support our industry leading smart device concept store (aka Open House). You will determine the relevant technology solution related to platforms and products that are highly interconnected with smart devices. * Partner with the IoT leadership team to define initiatives and new innovations within the IoT industry. Act as the CTO for the SF leadership team and be the technical representative for the team. * Build and manage a team of high caliber engineers and inform on resource allocation as well as recruit great engineering talent. * Work closely with product teams, to build both rapid prototypes and highly scalable, robust services that support high growth. * Drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment and accountable by working with business owners for meeting delivery dates * Drive architecture decision and determine proper testing protocol when necessary. * Actively involved in forums and conferences to stay current with technology trends * Lead by example.
Ideal Candidate
The key to the success of this position is having strong & innovative approach to problem solving, great technical leadership, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail. **Skills:** * Extensive engineering (software and hardware) knowledge and background, plus additional role-specific technical skills related to IoT. * Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to variety of audiences * Team-orientated, passionate about developing others’ skills and capabilities * Deep understanding of agile development processes and methodology * Experience with service oriented architecture * Strong sense of ownership and problem solving skills **Background:** * BS degree in computer science or equivalent. * Ideally 10+ years of software engineering experience * Full stack engineering experience, with strong fundamentals. * 5+ years of managing teams with a strong track record of delivery for large, cross-functional products. * Extensive experience operating large scale systems and experience with test-driven development and software test automation * Experience with APIs. SDKS and understanding of rigor in A/B testing. * Proven leader of owning creation of a vision and executing it with team * Good understanding of distributed systems, data stores, data modeling, indexing and associated trade-offs. * Familiarity with security and encryption protocols is a plus.
