This is a Human Resources position responsible for assisting in the daily operational and Human Resources activities of the Human Resources Department, administering all Company Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs to assure profitable performance and growth of the organization and providing employee relations and recruitment support and assists V.P. Human Resources in other projects as required.
- Assists V.P. in associate relations issues by investigating and resolving employee concerns and issues, indirectly, misconduct, harassment, etc. and writing follow-up reports.
- Assists with compliance with EEO, OFCCP, FLSA, FMLA, AAP and all other State and Federal employment laws and assists with investigations.
- Prepare purchase orders for employment related bills.
- Coordinates use of temporaries as required.
- Coordinate special projects for the HR Department i.e., picnic, holiday turkeys, service awards, etc.
- Assists in writing, updating and interpreting company-wide personnel policies.
- Assists in developing and maintaining the company wage & salary program.
- Maintains job descriptions for all departments.
- Runs reports on the Human Resources Information System, and inputs data as required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Prepares and forwards appraisal forms to supervisors for completion, records, and files and follows up on return of completed forms, sets up new appraisal dates. Computes salary changes, prepares status forms. Prepares status changes for hourly general and automatic increases.
- Assists in coordinating social events.
- Writes and submits literature to the company newsletter in order to keep employees updated on various benefits.
- Manages the employee service awards and the SYSCO Cares Champion Awards.
Basic Qualifications:
- To be successful in this position, the individual performing the duties must successfully demonstrate the following competencies:
- Planning and Organizing: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize your own work activities; analyze and disseminate numerical data; manage work time efficiently; follow procedures and policies; perform basic mathematical calculations; identify and solve problems; maintain a file system to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities.
- Communication: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, business writing, grammar and verbal communication skills.
Education and / or Experience:
- High school diploma.
- 2-3 years of Human Resources Generalist, Recruitment or Employee Relations experience.
Professional Skills:
- Basic knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and be able to read and interpret policies, procedures and laws.
- Ability to conduct training programs and make group presentations.
- Strong interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Ability to handle several tasks at the same time, with numerous interruptions, and must be able to keep information confidential.
- Proficient in use of PC including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
- College Degree or Certificate in Human Resources, perferred
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee may have to lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- May sit in front of a switchboard console for long periods of time or remain at a work station for extended periods or until relieved by a supervisor.
