Summary
We seek a design practitioner with a strong professional grounding in design across platforms, including web, mobile, tablet and print. The designer also would be knowledgeable about UI/UX and comfortable leading students in future applications of design. The ideal candidate would be capable of teaching at course levels ranging from introductory graphic design to advanced design.
Responsibilities
- The Multimedia Photography & Design Department at Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications seeks an accomplished human-centered design professional to be an innovator in our program as a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Multimedia Photography & Design. - The Newhouse School is one of the top communications schools in the world, and its graduates are some of the leading professionals and educators. The Multimedia Photography & Design Department fosters an energetic work atmosphere of openness and creativity. - We seek an industry-leading UI/UX design practitioner with a strong professional grounding in design across platforms, capable of leading the department and school through current and future industry strategies and practices of digital design. The designer would bring real-world knowledge and application from professional environments, and have the breadth and vision to lead students into developing the future of user-based design projects. - The successful candidate should be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate students, while eagerly contributing to a rich environment of collaboration and research projects of local, national and global significance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop specialized, cross-platform collaborations (projects, experiences, classes) to help students define the future of digital design technologies.
Ideal Candidate
- A master’s degree in a communications-related field is preferred and prior teaching experience at the college level is highly desired. - The successful candidate should be prepared to teach undergraduate students, while contributing to collaborative projects of local, national, and global significance.
