Summary
Every day our schools are faced with the tremendous challenge of both educating scholars and effectively managing safety concerns, general legal issues, and third-party requests. With our rapid growth and commitment to all kids, Success Academy is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our team of dedicated attorneys – someone who will advise our schools and the organization as a whole on high-level legal matters.
Responsibilities
Our Legal Counsel will ensure that Success Academy staff can dedicate their time to teaching and learning at our schools by conducting legal research, drafting legal memoranda, preparing training materials, drafting policies and procedures, reviewing contracts, advising other departments, applying for new and renewal charters, meeting reporting requirements, and handling litigation and external audits when they arise, among other responsibilities. This key player will be part of a larger Advisory Team, headed by our Executive Vice President of Policy & Legal Affairs, that is working tirelessly to provide support for our schools and scholars. Lawyers on the Advisory Team work closely with our school leaders and other Success Academy departments.
Ideal Candidate
* 1-8 years of legal experience, ideally with significant experience in education and/or education reform; * Strong research, writing, problem solving, and analytical abilities; * Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; * Attention to detail, yet works efficiently; * An ability to work well under pressure and keep track of multiple projects/deadlines; and * An eagerness to learn and a passion for education reform.
