Junior Traffic Engineer

Under direction of a Project Manager or Team Leader, as well as utilizing independent judgment, performs day-to-day project work producing technical deliverables for traffic and transportation engineering projects. The ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive, has good communication skills, both written and oral, and has experience with all aspects of traffic engineering design. Specific duties will include the preparation of traffic control device plans including signing and pavement marking, traffic signals, roadway lighting and maintenance of traffic plans, as well as the review of traffic control device plans and the preparation of technical documents and reports. Additional responsibilities may include performing field duties outside of the office in support of projects, including field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control device installations. • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Emphasis in Traffic Engineering, Planning, and Highway Design courses a plus.
• 0-4 Years of experience in Traffic Engineering. Knowledge and understanding of traffic engineering principals in the HCM, MUTCD, HSM, ITE, IES and AASHTO manuals.
• Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel and is required. Working knowledge of other relevant software packages such as GuidSIGN, AutoTurn, AGi32, Visual Professional, Synchro and HCS also preferred.
• Traffic Analysis and Simulation, GIS application in transportation, and Safety Analyses experience is a plus. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. EIT certification preferred.
