Summary
To provide the software backbone for our dedication to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction in our industry, our company is seeking to create and grow an in-house development unit. The Lead Developer will have the unique opportunity to help shape this new unit, while working to implement the company’s strategy for its software systems. The Lead Developer will also play a managerial role, helping to further expand, guide and oversee the software development unit. Because this role involves both working to implement our technical goals and interacting with a range of different people, we’re seeking an individual with outstanding communication, management and relationship-building skills who is passionate about the prospect of working in our industry and playing an integral role in a small, but growing company.
Responsibilities
* Interested in working to intimately understand problems – and then creating code-based solutions that can address those problems. * Someone who strives to enhance a system or design beyond the basic specs. (You’re not interested in just taking some requirements and doing the bare minimum to get them done.) * Able to go beyond just thinking or talking about solutions and ideas – you can implement those solutions in code. * Ready to work with other managers and staff in a small, collaborative environment. * Able to work with other developers to break down high level projects into tasks that can be properly distributed. * Someone who gets excited to talk with others in the company about the project you're working on. * A person who can prioritize projects and stay on task. * Someone who is able to communicate both with technical and non-technical team members. * Someone who can write clearly and effectively.
Ideal Candidate
* At least five years of experience in development. * A bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or directly related field. * A background in developing software for server-related applications. * Java (running in Tomcat) as our main platform. * Various frameworks, such as Spring and Hibernate. * Various web services to connect our back-end code to a publicly-accessible web-based application.
