NetBackup / Symantec Backup Administrator

This role will be responsible for supporting the current backup strategies for all Windows, UNIX, Linux and VMWARE servers. This position requires a high degree of teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn. They will need to be energetic, self motivated and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment. They must be committed to Customer Service. The successful candidate will help to improve procedures and monitoring. (Usually requires 1 to 3 years experience)

* Troubleshooting errors both hardware/software * Communicate status for support tickets * Remedy ticket resolution and creation * Document procedures for existing environment for team * Resolve routine to moderately complex administrative and support issues. * Provides preventative maintenance. Improve procedures and monitoring. * Maintains security and integrity controls. * Implement enhancements to improve performance and relaibility of systems. * Track metrics and ensure service level agreements are met. * Participate in change management processes. * Support global customer base via an on-call rotation and occasional on-site weekend work.

* Knowledge of Symantec Netbackup with basic UNIX administrator skills * Knowledge of Symantec Appliances and replication between remote sites. * Knowledge of Enterprise level backup hardware * Excellent attitude and aptitude * Excellent communication skills * Desired Skills / Experience * VMware\Netbackup snapshot process * Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure (hardware) * Monitoring and issue tracking experience using BMC Patrol and Remedy * Strong desire to learn. Willingness to commit to rigorous training schedule. * Desired exposure (not required) to any ONE or more of these technologies: storage, operating systems, VMware, Database, Web, SharePoint.
