Summary
The Test Engineer lead-supervisor is responsible for directing and managing other test engineering staff and technicians. They will support the new business development process by participating in Customer visits and by providing timely feedback to the quoting process (equipment requirements, labor standards, test process development and Test Plans).
Responsibilities
* Provide departmental performance metrics as appropriate. * Generate departmental budgets and manage within agreed allocations. * Ensure that the Test Engineering Department participates in internal ISO audits. * Appropriately staff the Test Engineering team to meet customer requirements and company business needs. * Provide support to the Operations group with capacity planning, process development, cycle time reductions and yield improvements. * Provide support to Program Management to ensure Customer Satisfaction goals are met. * Support the Continuous Improvement process by ensuring participation in Quality Teams, reviewing and implementing ECOs, driving New Product Introductions (including DFT analysis) and following through on Corrective Action Requests (CARs). * Develop, review, and modify departmental procedures, as needed. * Work closely with HR to develop cost effective training programs. * Responsible for the Performance Management of Test Engineering staff * Design circuit board layout for new and existing test stations using Altium Designer or Circuit Maker 2000. * Lead and drive test improvement such as, but not limited to, reduction in test time, improvements in test coverage and improving automation of test equipment. * Participate in the review of capital investments including various pieces of test equipment to improve capabilities and capacity. * Participate in quality reviews to aid in reduction of quality escapes through improved test coverage, capability and improved automation. * Generate monthly and quarterly reports and analysis of test data and prepare documentation and recommendations for customers. * Review test equipment designs, test capacity, data and RMA issues with customers on a regular basis. * Direct and coordinate engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment, control devices required to test, record and reduce test data. * Direct and exercise control over operational, functional and performance phases of tests. * Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by Test Engineering and Management personnel. * Comply and follow all procedures within the Company security policy. * Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent * Minimum of three years of experience as a Lead Test Engineer or Test Supervisor in a manufacturing environment * Experience with networking hardware and software preferred * Genrad ICT development and debugging experience a plus * Operation Systems: MS Windows * Languages: Visual Basic, .NET, C++, C, Lab-View and Shell Scripting * Applications: MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Altium Designer, Circuit Maker 2000 * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables * Must be able to function effectively in a dynamic environment with constant changes in priorities * Must be able to function effectively in a team environment and interact with multiple departments across the Company * Experience with problem solving and troubleshooting skills using solid Six Sigma or Lean Methods * Experience with test process (including equipment and operator) validation methods
