Responsibilities
* Working in the Bank Regulatory and Compliance Legal Group at a global financial institution headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, the attorney will provide counsel and legal support for the financial institution’s enterprise-wide corporate compliance department. Responsibilities include providing support to the Ethics and Privacy Offices and other areas of the compliance department as required. * Develop strong relationships, and work closely with enterprise-wide compliance department and business unit personnel to support expanding ethics and privacy compliance programs globally. * Monitor for and analyze changes to applicable laws and regulations that impact the financial institution’s operations and personnel in the areas of ethics and privacy, including developing a strong understanding of supervisory regulators’ expectations for the financial institution’s compliance programs in the numerous jurisdictions in which the financial institution operates. * Provide support for new business initiatives. * Coordinate work with outside legal counsel in various jurisdictions on related projects. * Provide counsel and support to legal colleagues in other legal groups on ethics and privacy compliance issues that arise in the context of client contract negotiations. * Provide support, as needed, in other areas outside of the corporate compliance department that are supported by the Bank Regulatory and Compliance Legal group.
Ideal Candidate
* Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. * License to practice law in Massachusetts or other state of the United States. * Significant (5+ years) experience with a major U.S. or international law firm or in-house at a global institution practicing in the areas of financial services regulation. * Experience working with or at global financial institutions preferred. * Strong research, time management, planning and organizational skills. * Strong client service, problem-solving, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. * Self-starter, having an ability to work independently, but also thrive in a global, dynamic and team-oriented environment. * Strong ability to multi-task with attention to detail. * Efficiently and effectively manage external counsel assignments. * Identify and report all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities. * Ability to foster relationships and positively interact with personnel at multiple levels within the organization.
