Summary
The Workstation Engineer is responsible for the configuration, management, and ongoing support of end user workstation systems. This position supports SHC in this capacity as it relates application distribution, software update distribution, operating system deployment, image build/management.
Responsibilities

C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford's patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions. * Respond to resolve incidents related to workstation systems in the SHC environment, serving as a source of engineering support for workstation system management. * Assist with the thorough documentation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of standardized processes around workstation system management. * Provide functional expertise on projects and assist with requirement gathering, identification of emerging technologies, and business case development. * For engineers performing image management, assist with the development of a set of core images and/or core image profiles, including operating systems and workstation application configuration settings, working with application packaging teams to ensure interoperability among the applications that comprise SHC core images. * For engineers performing patch and upgrade testing and distribution, evaluate, test, and deploy patches and upgrades and establish processes to ensure proper patch level compliance across the workstation environment. * For engineers performing application packaging activities, assist with packaging of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom developed applications for desktop systems across the SHC environment, and evaluate, test, and prepare new applications for distribution across the SHC environment.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university **Experience:** * Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. **License/Certification:** * MCTS certification preferred. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** * These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification. * Advanced skills with workstation technologies, toolsets, and methodologies such as: * SCCM 2012 core infrastructure support and management * Software, Update and OS deployment via SCCM 2012 * SCCM client remediation * SCUP/Patch My PC * JAMF/Casper * SQL & SSRS * VB Script / Powershell * Experience performing the activities above in Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10 and Mac operating systems. * Ability to effectively interact with all internal and external stakeholders involved in desktop systems support, as well as customers at all levels in the organization. * Strong task and time management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong technical expertise on all aspects of end user systems. **Physical Requirements and Working Conditions** * The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in which the job is typically performed are available from the Occupational Health Department. * Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
