Summary
Summary: Under direction of the director of procurement, manages inventory investment for an assigned group of stock items for the plant/distribution center. Replenishes items required by internal/external customers and strives for lowest cost and best-time delivery. Ensures service and inventory levels goals are achieved and is guided by established policy. Performs a variety of administrative duties in the support of the purchasing department and coordination of related requirements from production.
Responsibilities
* Maintains service and inventory levels of Purchased Finished Goods (PFG) and daily consumable items for production through proactive replenishment system management. Creates purchase orders and schedules receipts for all of these items. * Using the inventory information from Oracle and other inventory status reports, identifies products, which have fallen below appropriate inventory levels and places purchase orders with supplier. Also maintains all aspects of these purchase orders to update for price, delivery date, quantity, and any other changes as needed. * Procures non-stocked items as required by customers utilizing both established vendors and seeking new suppliers for cost and other advantages. * Procures all necessary items as required through approved requisitions including maintaining all necessary purchase order details and scheduling. * Follows-up on and expedites back-ordered items and open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods/services. * Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with purchasing, operations, and distribution departments. * Meets with vendor representatives as required in resolving shipping, backorder and overstock issues. Communicates any problems with appropriate Distribution or Operations personnel. * Updates computer system with revised shipping information, due dates, and pricing. * Researches and resolves payables problems and obtains proof of delivery. * Negotiates inventory returns for discontinued or overstock inventory. * Works with PD department to coordinate any routine, day to day procurement needs. * Responsible for Vendor reviews on a quarterly basis * Responsible for maintaining regulatory documents for all raw material vendors * Assist to maintain all ISO procedures relating to PFG's * Maintain active involvement with Product Safety Program * Assist with Kaizen events as required * Attend training as required * Complete tasks as assigned by The Director of Procurement

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. **Reasoning Ability:** Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Computer Skills:** To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software, Outlook and Database software. **Work Environment:** The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
