Summary
The Revenue Accountant is a key member of the Revenue Accounting team. The candidate will handle revenue related financial processes including critical areas of the revenue monthly close cycle, revenue and accounts receivable reporting, ad hoc revenue analysis and contracts review. With direct responsibility for applying and updating revenue recognition policy guidance, the candidate will perform monthly and quarterly close activities for revenue, validate and reconcile all revenue related accounts, analyze data, prepare reports for auditors, and work closely with cross functional departments such as Sales Operations, FP&A and Legal. We work in an open office environment where we strive to collaborate across business functions and work together as a team
Responsibilities
* Manage the monthly recognition, deferral and reconciliation of Services revenue * Reconcile and analyze revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and bad debt reserve accounts * Review and approve customer Sales Orders for accuracy and appropriate GAAP treatment * Liaise with FP&A to prepare monthly revenue reporting package * Maintain key company operational metrics related to revenue and receivables * Assist with documentation of revenue-related policies, processes and controls * Leverage third party software to manage sales and use tax accounting, registration and filing * Provide timely support and responses to external audit revenue related inquiries * Assist with related special projects as required
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required * Minimum 3-4 years corporate and/or public accounting experience * Public accounting experience with technology companies preferred * CPA preferred * Proven ability to interpret and research accounting guidance * Experience with revenue recognition guidance * Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential * Self-motivated individual able to work independently and in a team environment * Strong proficiency with Excel * Experience with NetSuite is a plus * Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus * Strong written and oral communication skills are a must
