Health and Safety Manager

Spherion Staffing Services is looking for Health and Safety Manager and Must be flexible to come in as needed due to the nature of position.

* Work with engineering in completion of projects to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations * Ensure employee compliance with plant safety policies and OSHA regulations. * Ensure facility and equipment compliance with plant safety policies and OSHA regulations * Develop and implement required safety programs * Answer all requests from the BLS & OSHA * Maintain all OSHA logs and all other required safety records * Schedule and conduct required safety training * Manage industrial hygiene testing programs * Schedule medical evaluations for hearing conversation and respiratory programs * Conduct monthly safety reports, including maintaining safety issue list * Attend corporate safety functions and act as liaison with corporate safety and plant operations * Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness and improve safe practices * Perform safety audits and inspect facilities: machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulations compliance * Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss accidents and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventative measures * Complete weekly, monthly and annual safety report submitted to management and corporate safety

* Bachelor’s degree from four year university; or 3-5 years minimum related experience and or training; equivalent combination of education and experience * Two years Safety experience in a manufacturing environment * Must have above average written and verbal communication skills * Ability to write procedures and policies * Ability to develop and implement training * Ability to speak in front of groups of people * Must possess outstanding employee relation skills * Must have excellent problem solving skills * Must be able to self-manage projects including meeting established deadlines * Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher
