Summary
We are seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer to supervise a small staff for the Distribution group of a well-established consulting firm. You will assume full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating electrical projects. You will help lead a multi-year capital project requiring expertise in engineering / design work ranging across utility and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities
* You will function as company liaison to external clients, consultants and contractors and department representative and back to internal departments concerning review plans, designs, calculations methods, and solutions. * Perform and interpret engineering analysis for electrical engineering/design projects, using specialized and/or vendor-specific software * Perform inspections of existing medium and low voltage electric power distribution system components, including, but is not limited to, the following: manual and automatic transfer switches, generator-sets, power circuit breakers, transformers, motor controllers and power feeders * Witness testing of electrical equipment, such as: manual and automatic transfer switches, generator-sets, power circuit breakers, transformers, motor controllers and power feeders * Engage in new design and/or modifications to existing medium and low voltage electric power systems * Perform the following electrical system studies: load flow, short circuit, coordination, motor starting and arc-flash * Develop electrical equipment specifications and electrical cost estimates
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 12 - 15 yrs. of relevant engineer/design experience in electric power distribution systems. * BS degree in Electrical Engineering * PE license and/or PMP preferred * Supervisory experience providing guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues and concepts * Experience managing multiple tasks/assignments and ensuring work conforms to project/task requirements, including: coordinating work across different engineering disciplines, departments and/or work groups * Reviewing complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance. * Ability to work independently on routine and complex projects, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts, and techniques as well as applicable codes and standards * Experience with rapid transit systems is a plus but not required. * Software required: ETAP or SKM Power*Tools; Microsoft Word and Excel. Not required but considered a plus: AutoCad; Microsoft Access, Project or PowerPoint; Primavera P6 * PMP Certification is a plus * Travel: Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites around metro Altanta area.
