Seeking an Engineering Manager of Medium & High Voltage Substations to be based in the Reading PA office. As a key member of the Power Division leadership team, you will be responsible for providing direction, coaching and mentoring to a team of professional and technical staff responsible for the quality and delivery of the work.
- Required to lead, develop and foster an innovative and collaborative work environment within Substation Engineering.
- As an engaged coach you will lead and mentor a team of professional and technical staff
- Responsible for the coordination & planning of all assignments, ensuring that all projects meet technical performance objectives and quality
- Manages staff including selection, performance feedback, salary planning, training and career development
- Act as a subject matter expert by applying knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering design principles with; HV substations and transmission systems up to 500kV; one line, schematic and wiring diagrams; apparatus specifications, structural, bus and general arrangements; station, system, and protection coordination studies; Telecontrol (SCADA) and Telecommunications.
- Involvement in the recruitment and retention of technical and professional staff
- Develop discipline specific engineering and technical standards, practices, procedures and techniques
- Help lead department sales efforts to attract new business and expand current business, including participation in estimating and proposals
- Interact with clients
- Participate in strategic planning and business center management team initiatives
- Serve as project manager or project engineer as needed
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 to 12 years’ experience leading a team of professional and technical staff within an engineering environment in utility HV substation design
- Eligibility to meet the criteria to obtain, or register as a Professional Engineer is required
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly, juggle multiple tasks, communicate in a clear and concise manner, and provide effective leadership
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage an audience
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- May be required to travel 10% to 15% of the time
