Summary
We are seeking an experienced Protection & Controls Engineer to play a leadership role in our T&D Design Engineering Group. Our client is an industry leader in the field of T&D Power Engineering. Responsibilities
* Work with the Power Delivery Group providing consulting and design for a variety of project types and clients in the utility substation sector. * Oversee protection and controls as applied to designing high voltage substations. Manage related transmission and distribution projects. * Help coordinate and supervise electrical equipment installation, power system design and studies, protective relay applications and settings, preparation of electrical equipment drawings and specifications and troubleshooting, repairs, and tests. * Assess existing facility conditions and make recommendations. * Assist in preparation of estimates and proposals. * Mentor and provide guidance to junior / intermediate engineers
Ideal Candidate
* 7 – 15 years consulting/design experience in electrical power systems for utility or heavy industrial market * B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with Power Emphasis * Registered Professional Engineer preferred (PE License) * Proven experience in sizing, specifying, reviewing vendor drawings and providing vendor surveillance for all types of industrial power apparatus including generators, rotating and static exciters, liquid filled and dry type transformers, circuit breakers, MV & LV switchgear, bus, motor control centers, lightning and surge protection, panel boards, DC systems, cable, cable support and terminations. * Familiarity with digital micro-processor relays: (SEL, GE, Basler, Beckwith, ABB, Areva, etc.) * Proven experience in creating and reviewing engineering drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematic diagrams, connection diagrams, riser diagrams, cable tray and conduit layout and physical electrical plans, elevations, and details. * Proven understanding and application of the NEC and NESC. * Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, formal and informal
