Senior Web Development Coordinator

South Dakota State University is a public research university located in Brookings, South Dakota. It is the state's largest and second oldest university.

- Oversee web development planning and implementation for www.sdstate.edu in collaboration with UMC leadership, external consultants/vendors and campus stakeholders. - Establish long- and short-term goals and priorities, and manage personnel and resources to assure university web and online needs are met efficiently and effectively. - Implement in code the designs and initiatives of the university. - Evaluate performance and progress toward meeting goals and priorities. - Review university web-related policies and practices to assure they are current and effective and make recommendations to UMC leadership. - Collaborate with UMC colleagues, Office of Information Technology and other campus departments and stakeholders, encouraging input and cooperation as needed, to facilitate implementation of web projects. - Advise and consult with university leadership, attending meetings as UMC representative and respond to inquiries and address campus web issues. - Plan and implement training for web editors and offer consultation in the areas of web support, web design, content strategy and related areas, in consultation with other elements of UMC as needed. - Advise and consult in the preparation of the annual UMC budget to support fiscal responsibility and accountability. - Perform other duties as assigned, to contribute to the overall success of UMC and the university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Strong preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an information technology field, web development or a design or communication discipline utilizing state-of-the-art technology and five or more years of experience. The search committee may consider applicants without bachelor’s or master’s degrees who have eight or more years of relevant professional experience in an information technology field, web development or a design discipline utilizing state-of-the-art technology and more than three years of supervisory experience. Required Experience: - At least five years' professional web development experience addressing issues such as security, design, content management, information architecture, user experience and usability, and supporting content editors. Required Skills: - Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects. - Understanding of standards-compliant HTML and CSS. - Documented experience with responsive and mobile-first design. - Understanding of JavaScript, jQuery and PHP. - Knowledge of version control systems (Git preferred). - Effective interpersonal, organizational skills. - Strong oral and written communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: - A bachelor's or master's degree in an information technology field or a design or communication discipline utilizing state-of-the-art digital technology. Preferred Experience: - Experience at an institution of higher education. - Proven experience in Drupal development, including ability to develop custom modules when necessary. - Proven experience with WordPress. - Proven experience with web infrastructure and administration, including web servers, cloud hosting and deployment. - Supervisory experience. Preferred Skills: - Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse constituencies with varying levels of technical knowledge. - Effective interpersonal, organizational and team building skills. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - An understanding of Federal accessibility requirements.
