The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications. This position will provide leadership, direction and support within the following areas: marketing, branding, advertising, publications, media relations, community events, photography, printing and distribution, social media and philanthropic grant writing.

- The successful candidate will supervise a team of 6 professionals and provide leadership for the development and execution of University communication strategies and tactics. - The successful candidate will have both strategic perspective to advance the reputation of the University and technical skills to guide a small team to execute those strategies. - The Director reports to the University President and is a member of the Executive Council for the University and the University Cabinet. - This position will have supervision and leadership responsibilities for the department of University Relations.

- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required with a minimum of five years' progressive experience in a leadership role in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations or a related field. - Working knowledge of web design and advertising, social media, desktop publishing, media relations is required. - Supervisory experience with budget management responsibility is required. - A Master's degree in a relevant field is desirable. - Photography and video production and advertising experience is also desirable.
