Summary
Manages software development engineers responsible for design, development and verification of software sub-systems and components for server- and PC-based medical software and tools.
Responsibilities
* Continuously improve design control processes, development tools and software platforms used to develop server and Microsoft PC application software. * Recruit, hire and retain software development engineers with server and PC application technology skills. * Provide technical direction and strategic leadership to server and PC application software development team members. Ensure that prioritized projects are staffed with necessary skills and abilities and executed per project plans, according to product specifications, and per quality system requirements. * Manage the performance of and organize training and development opportunities for software application development team members. * Develop, support and lead strategic initiatives to drive more efficient and effective quality standards and design control processes for application software development throughout the department. * Provide input to yearly and quarterly updates to budget forecasts for projects that include development of server and PC application software products and monitor and control project and resource costs throughout the year. * Work with cross-functional groups to ensure that deliverables for projects that include server and PC application software are executed consistently across the company and are completed on time and within budget. * Prepare statements of work and work with outsourcing vendors and consulting services to augment internal staff and acquire specialized services as needed.
Ideal Candidate
* 4 year degree in an engineering or similar field. An advanced degree is a plus. A software engineering degree is preferred. * 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of work experience and advanced education. * 2 – 3 years of experience building and leading a team of software development engineers preferably in a server and PC application software and/or a regulated software development environment. * Experience in the end to end software development life cycle, preferably using the Microsoft Windows-based software technology stack and/or per standards such as EN/IEC 62304 used in a regulated environment. * Demonstrated ability to communicate with and lead others.
