iOS Engineer - Backend

Use your extensive knowledge of performance tuning to improve the Slack iOS app, a complex completely native application relied upon by hundreds of thousands of users every day. You will drive our cross functional efforts in improving application performance, which includes analyzing the performance of all aspects of the Slack client-server system, prototyping solutions to challenging problems, and iterating with cross functional teams on delivering the necessary improvements to make the best software you can imagine.

* You'll brainstorm with cross-functional partners to create the best mobile-friendly API design patterns * You'll identify and help fix hot spots in the application * You'll learn about new iOS technologies and discuss potential solutions to problems * You'll help our skilled support team triage bugs and troubleshoot production issues * You'll mentor other engineers and deeply review code

* Experience with Objective-C and Swift * Experience with Core Image and Core Animation * Experience with profiling and debugging applications * Experience with threading, Core Data, and networking * Experience with modern iOS technologies * Experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment * Expertise in building complex layouts with UIKit * Strong UI and design skills * Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and empathy * Self ­awareness and a desire to improve your skills **Bonus Points** * Academic background in computer science (BSc or MSc) * Experience with CocoaPods and other major open source iOS projects * Experience in small start­up environments * Experience working with a team, especially a distributed team
