Summary
SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated team member to fill the role of Microsoft SQL Database Administrator. The selected individual will be well versed in Windows Server system administration and will join a team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will work closely with SQL development, Window server, Government Enterprise Operations, backup teams to fulfill day to day assignments and stay current on technologies and software standards.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities – SQL Developer/Administration: * Maximizing database stability, uptime of databases supporting the Enterprise Production, Test/Dev environments through system monitoring, performance tuning, and routine maintenance tasks such as index rebuilds, file compressions, statistical updates, and database consistency checks. * Managing the storage environments for the databases, including optimal sizing, monitoring space, requesting additional storage, and providing growth statistics. * Creating tables, views, indexes, database links, views, materialized views, stored procedures, and other database objects as needed; creating and assigning database roles and privileges. * Creating and executing database backup and recovery policies, and maintain integrity and reliability of access to information. * Importing and exporting data to and from the database servers. * Performing routine backup and recovery testing, including testing and documenting recovery scenarios. * Working with application/development teams to assist in overall database design, helping developers tune queries, assigning proper indexes, and aiding developers in the creation of triggers and stored procedures. * Responsible for database performance monitoring and capacity planning. * Monitor and analyze disk I/O, queue lengths. * Conduct troubleshooting of issues associated with supported SQL databases. * Performing SQL performance tuning tasks. * Creating and maintaining detailed SOPs, configuration documentation, and maintenance plans for the database environment. Secondary Responsibilities – Systems Administration: * Implement Windows Server deployments and upgrades * Implement server management and delegated administration strategies * Manage and implement provisioning of Application servers including Web services and SQL server * Monitor and maintain data and storage utilization. * Implement application updates as part of the change management process. * Perform and report server performance and event monitoring daily. * Plan and implement a backup and recovery strategy. * Monitor and maintain security compliance and policies. * Assist (EOPS SA and DBA) client teams with management of production server systems such as network security teams, data center teams, system security officers. * Assist ETD team with technical issues and break-fix resolution. * Serve as technical liaison between ETD and EOPS SA/DBA. * Provide support of client site change control activities, support change control requests and review boards with respect to system implementation. * Perform security hardening via group policies, local policies, scripting, etc. * Distinguish between necessary security settings that would protect the system while insuring usability versus security settings to meet security compliance.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 6 years’ experience. A High School diploma and an additional 4 years of experience in a large enterprise server environment may be substituted in lieu of degree. * Must be eligible for a Minimum Background Investigation security clearance. * Minimum 5 years’ experience as a SQL administrator * Minimum 3 years’ System Administration experience with Windows Server 2003 and 2008. * Minimum 3 years’ experience in a telecom environment. Preferred Experience: * Cisco Intelligent Contact Manager * Cisco Customer Voice Portal * Microsoft SQL 2008 & 2012 * Cisco Call Manager * Avaya IP Products
