Summary
Sinclair Broadcast Group’s ONE Media 3.0 organization is seeking a self-starting RF and Broadcast Technician/Engineer to manage its ONE Media ATSC 3.0 Lab. The candidate will be responsible for organizing and coordinating activities to test and validate a range of equipment in support of the new Advanced Television Standards Committee ATSC 3.0 standard. These include 4K UHD production, encoding and playout gear, signal and transmission technology gear, and home receivers. The candidate will help create and manage an effective test-bed and work with Sinclair engineers and vendors with pre-production prototype equipment. The candidate has every opportunity to grow as Sinclair implements ATSC 3.0 technology in its business operations, and develops extensions for a Next Generation Broadcast Platform.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and advance the ATSC 3.0 Lab architecture, including equipment layout, racking, switching and cabling. * Create and maintain the lab capital and operational budget. * Create and maintain the testing schedule. * Coordinate and schedule equipment receipt from, testing with and returns to a variety of vendors. * Maintain a library of equipment specifications and test procedures. * Assist other Sinclair engineers in setting up the test equipment, and in executing tests as needed. * Provide field support for testing as needed. * Help troubleshoot and rectify problems with the lab set up, including cabling, signal conversion, switching and routing.
Ideal Candidate
* Formal education and knowledge of RF, broadcast or wireless communications. * Experience in working in a RF or wireless or broadcast engineering test lab. * Can effectively organize and prioritize tasks and testing schedules with colleagues and vendors. * Hands-on experience with installing, disassembling and troubleshooting electronic equipment. * Familiarity with IP and MPEG transport protocols for media delivery. * Familiarity with Microsoft Office productivity and collaboration software. * Familiarity with TV broadcast operations or wireless communication workflows.
