Summary
Designs the most complex material specification, schematic preparation, systems, subsystems, and models, using advanced and investigative methods and techniques. Designs the most complex design, development, testing and modifications of solutions. Leads explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of the most complex specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data. Leads and designs communication of the most complex technical and commercial issues. Designs recommendations for the most complex new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements. Leads project planning and customer/marketing support for major engineering areas. Performs leading-edge areas of work for the professional field. Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes. Display original thinking in applying principles, theories, and concepts on a wide range of problems.
Responsibilities
- Design thermal models for GT and Combined Cycle power plants - Perform GT and Combined Cycle performance tests - Tweak existing models for off-design evaluation - 25% travel
Ideal Candidate
* BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Certification may be required in some areas. * Demonstrates extensive knowledge in field of specialization or multiple disciplines to the successful completion of complex assignments. * Successfully serves as point of authority and/or source of technical/scientific knowledge for area of expertise. * Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues. * Typically 15+ years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. * Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable. * Develops team members through mentoring and coaching in complex subjects. * Acts as advisor to top management and business partners on advanced technical matters. * Represents the company as the primary external contact.
