Summary

Shutterstock is looking for a Tax Specialist with significant indirect tax experience to review the group’s indirect tax returns, support audits and appeals, research and analysis for business units and functional groups, develop and provide training and support to various functional groups and business units and various other tasks related to indirect tax processes and compliance. This role is a great opportunity to be immersed in a global corporation’s indirect tax environment with a wide variety of challenging tax issues.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining the indirect tax calendar for all compliance duties, deadlines and identifying, applying indirect tax registrations in relevant tax jurisdictions
  • Preparing, reviewing and/or filing returns related to: VAT, Royalty Withholding, Sales & Use, and other indirect tax returns - accurately & timely
  • Evaluating and filing tax appeals; supporting audits, gathering of internal& external data working, as needed, with internal & external business unit contacts, legal counsel & subject matter experts
  • Developing and providing training and support for indirect tax related matters to Procurement, Accounts Payable, Customers, and business units and functional groups;
  • Identifying indirect tax issues, seeking solutions and taking responsibility for delivery of a total solution and promoting the sharing of best practices as a proactive member of the Tax team
Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting; Master’s degree, CPA or CMI (Preferable)
  • Five plus years of professional experience in a public/private organization with significant experience in indirect taxes;
  • Ability to plan, organize, own, and prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects and assignments; meet deadlines in a short period of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, functions and formulas - able to efficiently manipulate and summarize data using functions and formulas
  • Accounting, Financial and Taxation knowledge
  • Possess strong orientation to detail, assuming ownership of projects and organizing to deliver on deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable in a continuously changing work environment
