UX Researcher, Shopify Plus

Shopify is a leading cloud-based, multichannel commerce platform designed for small and medium-sized businesses. Merchants can use the software to design, set up and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including web, mobile, social media such as Pinterest and Facebook, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops. The platform also provides a merchant with a powerful back-office and a single view of their business.

* Building and growing the UX practice in our Waterloo office, and advocating for our merchants every chance you get * Informing Shopify Plus' product roadmap decisions * Collaborating with our content strategists to guide content for our product interfaces * Working alongside designers to shape the user experience based on peer feedback, user research, testing, and merchant feedback * Empowering everyone at Shopify Plus to think about the user when working on their craft through training, learning resources, and support

* Hands-on experience doing end-to-end design research for products, services, and/or experiences, including research planning, data gathering, analysis, summarizing, and presenting * A strong aptitude for applying behavioural psychology to design * Combined quantitative data and qualitative research skills to round out insights * Solid experience in using research to guide business strategy and product roadmaps * Experience applying a range of research methods with a creative and rigorous attitude towards research * A love for asking questions, seeking answers, and working with others to solve difficult design problems * A soft spot for the end user -- advocating for them in all areas of your work is core to what you do * Moving fast (and changing even faster) - you’ll adjust quickly to shifting approaches, situations, and priorities and you’ll prioritize simultaneous deadlines across multiple teams * Building relationships - you’ll build strong, collaborative relationships with everyone at Shopify Plus to act in our merchants’ best interests. * Figuring it out - every day is different here, and you’ll be working across different types of projects so you’ll use your experience and judgement to create the best possible solution.
