Summary
The House Supervisor RN coordinates the daily operations of staff to ensure operational units are running effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Provides oversight for multiple hospital departments in the absence of unit management. Addresses patient care, staffing, and any other issues that may arise. * Assumes responsibility for supervision and administrative decision making for the care and coordination of nursing and patient care services during the evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. * Ensures that hospital policies and procedures are followed. * Participates in patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. * Interfaces with various nursing units to facilitate patient and nursing staff placement in accordance with unit and staffing needs. * Coordinates the work of nursing staff on a daily basis as needs dictate, facilitating patient placement and staffing assignments and use of resources as appropriate. * Mentors nursing staff and provides leadership for continuous development and empowerment of service teams and individual staff members. Provides leadership for continuous development and expansion of the processes and services of the facility. * Performs other duties as assigned. * May be required to be "on-call."
Ideal Candidate
**Licenses/Certifications/Registration:** * Required Credential(s): * Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required prior to hire or job transfer date. * Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of Texas is required or must be obtained prior to hire or job transfer date. * Education: * Graduation from an accredited RN Diploma program is (at minimum) required * Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) is acceptable to meet the minimum education required * Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred * NOTE: By January 1, 2017, all associates in this job title must have completed a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree **Work Experience:** * Three (3) years successful leadership experience within the assigned service area is required
