Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Business, the Chair will bring industry experience, academic leadership and a focus on student success to the School of Marketing, with responsibility for the development, delivery and review of all full-time marketing and operations management programs at Seneca across the certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, baccalaureate degree and graduate certificate spectrum. The marketing program portfolio is presently composed of 19 academic programs. The School of Marketing is responsible for curriculum administration and delivery across the marketing, advertising, operations management, supply chain, business technology and business analytics academic disciplines. The Chair, School of Marketing, is expected to foster a community of scholarly activity focused on these marketing priorities. The program portfolio is growing, with a new degree presently awaiting Ministry approval and the pending launch of a cluster of new analytic-based marketing graduate certificates. The Chair will provide leadership and support to faculty and students within the School and will be expected to engage actively with industry and employers to ensure program relevance, establish applied research projects, and identify current and future employment options and opportunities for graduates.
Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you are a business leader guided by a vision for the entire lifecycle of marketing management and the post-secondary education sector. Your breadth of practical experience in industry, coupled with your master’s degree in a related field, has prepared you well for this role. You are a practitioner of the latest initiatives in marketing, and management, within organizations large and small and this experience guides your innovative and entrepreneurial drive. You have a particular interest in analytics, quantitative research and online marketing, and continually seek opportunities to apply these skills in the development of innovative new programs and business opportunities. You are naturally collaborative as a leader and skilled at building and motivating a large, diverse team of full- and part-time staff. Ideally, you bring teaching experience and a demonstrable passion for promoting academic excellence and student success.
