Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will be joining SendGrid at critical stage of the company’s growth. As part of the Financial Operations team, this opportunity provides significant insight into the changes a company must embrace as it supports multiple areas of expansion. This is a great role for someone who is excited about contributing to the success of the team. You will be responsible for core accounting areas such as revenue, accounts receivable, and commissions as well as all Billing Operations activities including invoicing, credit reviews, collections and KPI monitoring.

* Live by and champion our cultural values of Happy, Hungry, Honest, and Humble * Lead, manage, and develop accounting staff * Support revenue recognition, including new product offerings and reseller expansion * Support billing operations, including invoicing and payment processing of customer monthly subscriptions and services * Oversight of credit and collections process * Escalation point for internal and external billing questions * Responsible for several balance sheet areas including accounts receivable, prepaids, and merchant bank accounts * Review calculation and payment of commission plans * Prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for monthly close * Help team members to understand complex accounting transactions * Complete monthly financial statement fluctuation analysis * Become an expert on our processes and systems as well as identify and implement process improvements * Provide support for internal management reporting and external financial reporting including preparation of footnote disclosures * Support external audits, including quarterly reviews, year-end financial audit, annual bank audit, and tax audits * Ad hoc projects as needed * We're an agile, fast-growing company and this job description isn't meant to be a complete list of your qualifications or all of the things you'll do

* 8+ years of experience with a combination of public accounting and industry experience * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and preferably an active CPA license * Proven management skills * Strong financial and accounting skills * Strengths include organization, time management, and problem solving * Ability to effectively prioritize, make, and meet commitments, while working individually and in teams * Excel wizard * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Emotionally Intelligent - Recognize their own, and other people's emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use this to guide thinking and behavior * Decisive - Uses a framework or process by which to make decisions.
