Responsibilities
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Associate Software Engineer. If you are looking for an opportunity to work for a leader in the power industry, then this position is for you! Responsibilities: * Lead full cycle development of our mission critical products (software requirements, design, development, test, maintenance). * Provide technical leadership. * Provide solutions to technical issues and ensure solutions meet the technical specifications and design requirements. * Understand hardware and software interactions, and collaborate with Hardware Engineers. * Ensure the delivered solutions meet the technical specifications and design requirements. * Mentor Engineers, Associate Engineers, and Technicians. * Review data sheets and instruction manuals. * Serve as project manager and/or project technical contact. * Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences as needed to meet operational and strategic plans. * Lead development of R&D processes.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications: * B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent * Experience or knowledge in embedded systems firmware development * Strong background in real-time firmware design * Knowledge in C, C++, and assembly languages * Proven experience leading and completing complex projects * Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills * Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities * Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment * Background check results satisfactory to SEL * Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications: * 3-phase electric power systems * Modern communications protocols * Digital and analog circuitry * Digital communications and signal processing
