- Collection of NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) samples from various discharge points and transporting samples to the Chemistry Lab for analysis within a fixed time frame.
- Monitoring and inspecting NPDES outfalls to meet the station’s NPDES environmental discharge Permit issued by the State of SC.
- Monitoring proper operation of the equipment, inspection of areas for deficiencies on a daily basis to meet regulatory requirements and taking action to ensure deficiencies are corrected.
- Performing inspections and assisting in proper handling and shipping of Hazardous Waste in accordance with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations.
- Maintaining South Carolina Biological Waste Water Operator and completing Hazardous Waste Operator, Emergency Response and Department of Transportation training.
- Transporting chemicals and supplies to Chemistry Services to maintain inventory in the labs. Transporting samples to commercial labs for analysis to ensure analysis are completed within the regulatory time frame.
- Assisting with recycling of oil, paper, battery and metal. Collects and prepares recyclable material for shipment to recycling centers.
- Performing preventative maintenance lubrication on designated plant equipment
- A diploma from a high school accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED; a SCDLLR Class “D” level Biological Waste Water Certificate and at least one year of environmental wastewater experience;
- A valid driver's license with a good driving history;
- Ability to obtain qualification for Hazardous Waste Operator and successfully complete DOT training for Hazardous Waste transportation;
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50+ lbs., climb ladders, walk stairs, climb on and off large equipment, manual dexterity to work with hand tools and work in an outside environment;
- Ability to obtain qualification to operate a forklift;
- And ability to provide support as necessary during refueling outages.
- A SCDLLR Class “C” level Biological Waste Water Certificate and at least two years of experience are preferred.
