Customer Field Rep - Asheville Operations

Headquartered in Cayce, South Carolina, SCANA is an energy-based holding company that has brought power and fuel to homes in the Carolinas and Georgia for 160 years.

This position requires the reading and blocking of natural gas meters to process orders for customers within the territory on computer aided dispatching system. Additionally it will require the physical disconnection of gas meters due to nonpayment of utility bills at customers’ premises. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Position requires frequent travel to customers’ premises, where encounters with customers or dogs and other animals may occur. Workload may vary based upon time of year.

* Position requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with at least one year driving experience, previous customer service skills, computer skills, credit/collections experience, and the ability to use tools such as pipe wrench, meter key, and adjustable wrench. * Candidate must be willing to utilize analytical skills for reviewing accounts and possess a comfort level with working on computers. * Candidate must also have an ability to read maps, navigate in various territories, and retain knowledge of company’s credit policies, North Carolina Utility Commission rules and regulations. * The abilities to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner, prioritize workload, possess knowledge of the Asheville area and surrounding towns, read gas meters, and properly research and record meter and account information on a computer are essential. * Bilingual candidates are preferred.
