Responsibilities
- As a Senior Storage Engineer, your primary responsibility will be designing and ensuring the availability and optimal performance of diverse data services in a mostly NFS environment used for the SARC low-power mobile chip design engineering organization. - Other responsibilities include defining and refining deployment, provisioning, maintenance processes, designing and implementing performance monitoring, instrumentation and metrics gathering solutions, end-to-end system level testing, evaluating new technologies and providing stability and refinement throughout the entire storage infrastructure stack. - The ideal candidate will have an extensive technical background in a multi-petabyte environment with 1 or more storage vendor arrays including NetApp and EMC Isilon supporting EDA and VMware workloads generated by tens of thousands of client systems.
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements/Qualifications:** * 5-10 years of enterprise storage support * In-depth experience providing NFS services to Linux clients. * Expert knowledge of enterprise storage arrays from NetApp and/or EMC Isilon. * Strong communications and documentation skills. * General understanding of distributed computing concepts, including the principles of network routing and data center switching. * Ability and aptitude to develop new skills and support continuous self-improvement. **Secondary requirements:** * Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field * Familiarity with EDA tools. * Working experience with an enterprise backup tool such as Veritas NetBackup or CommVault Simpana. * Linux skills including the ability to capture and analyze networking packets, validate storage access, manage LDAP, etc. * Experience with file transfer tools such as rsync, sftp, and vendor-provided array replication tools. * Manage storage supporting VMware ESXi workloads * Familiarity with SMB in an enterprise environment. * Working experience with 3rd party monitoring applications such as Nagios, Graphite, etc.
