SRP delivers high-value electricity and water for the benefit of our customers, shareholders and the communities we serve. We are a community-based, nonprofit utility and one of the nation's largest public power utilities. SRP provides electricity to more than 1 million retail customers in a 2,900-square-mile service area that spans three Arizona counties, including most of the metropolitan Phoenix area (known as the Valley).
Summary
Maintains and develops SRP's Telecommunication network management systems which are essential tools for monitoring the health and security of SRP's telecommunication network, configuring network elements, and troubleshooting network issues. Provides network management systems support to SRP's telecommunication systems stakeholders. Communicates performance information to SRP's telecommunication systems stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Configure network management systems - computer software - Ensure data quality within the systems - Utilize network management information to provide insights on network performance and risks by performing analytics - Ensure that telecommunication systems events are properly correlated towards effective alerting - Ensure that performance information derived from network management systems is concisely communicated to the right people in an easily accessible and timely fashion. - Promote an enterprise view of how network management systems are best utilized and integrated across SRP - Prepare training materials for users of network management systems - Support the NOC in their use of network management systems to monitor and troubleshoot telecommunication systems
Ideal Candidate
**Education** * Completion of a Bachelor's Degree that prepares the employee for the assignment. **Experience** * Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. * Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three-years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities. **Additional Information** * Responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring for projects. * Occasional contacts with vendors of software, equipment and services. * Occasional travel to industry organizational functions and SRP facilities. * Ability to work effectively using the services of various organizational groups within SRP. * Depending on assignment, frequent requirement to work with confidential data such as payroll and employee information. **Required Skills:** - Network Management Systems used by the Telecommunication Systems group include CA Spectrum, GE Vistanet, Megasys Telenium, Cisco Works and Prime, Cisco CTC, and IBM QRadar, Cienna, and WAM (Maximo). - Knowledge of theory and practices related to the communications field which includes SONET systems, telephony, fiber optics, DWDM, and IP networking is foundational for this job. - SNMP/NETCONF, command-line interface, Transaction Language 1, SQL are languages that are required to perform this job.
