SRP provides electricity to more than 1 million retail customers in a 2,900-square-mile service area that spans three Arizona counties, including most of the metropolitan Phoenix area (known as the Valley).
Summary
Provides cost analysis to SRP management and the NGS E&O committee. Responsible for developing NGS operating, maintenance, and capital budgets, reporting cost performance, and analyzing variances. Monitors cost accounting system integrity. Performs capital project economic evaluations. Uses computer programs extensively. Communicates and coordinates with participant owners and various other SRP groups. Subject to limited direction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate annual NGS budgets, including the operating and maintenance, capital, t/o, participant share and SRP FINPLAN budgets. - Effectively communicate orally and in writing with SRP management, peers, and the E&Q committee on cost and budget items. - Research alternatives, perform present value analysis, recommend economic strategies for plant ops, maintenance, replacement, and capital improvements. - Control NGS cost accounting system job orders, work orders, and data integrity, insuring that collected costs provide optimal management information. - Report actual cost vs. budget performance to various levels of management and NGS E&O committee periodically and on request. - Analyze budget variances, explain causes and recommend corrective action to management from the foreman level to the NGS E&O committee level. - Conceive, develop and maintain computer systems to gather, analyze, summarize and report financial data. - Monitor contractor cost performance while work is in progress. - Analyze and project cash flows and bank balances; request participant billings to achieve minimum cash balance targets. - Perform special financial and/or operational audits for NGS management or in conjunction with SRP internal audit as directed.
Ideal Candidate
* Completion of a Bachelor's Degree that prepares the employee for the assignment. * Requires a minimum of two years prior work experience as a cost analyst to qualify for level II. * Requires a minimum of five years prior work experience as a cost analyst to qualify as a senior analyst. * Promotion requires a minimum of 2 years experience at level 1 demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisors. * Promotion requires a minimum of 3 years experience at level 2 employee must be fully competent in all aspects of their functional area of assignment, as determined by the supervisor. * Employee may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities. * Experience working in a heavy industrial environment a plus.
