We are a community-based, nonprofit utility and one of the nation's largest public power utilities. SRP provides electricity to more than 1 million retail customers in a 2,900-square-mile service area that spans three Arizona counties, including most of the metropolitan Phoenix area (known as the Valley).
Summary
The Mainframe System Programmer is responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading and supporting various system software products for SRP's z/OS operating system environment including, but not limited to DB2, CICS and BMC database tools.
Responsibilities
- Communicate status to, and work in conjunction with client stakeholders, project managers, team members and management - Ensure solutions provide system stability by following best practices and SRP change control and support methodologies - Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, test, document, and implement system software upgrades, PTF's and new software packages per client specifications - Maintain historical records by documenting system software changes and revisions - Ensure peak software/system performance by monitoring software usage - Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies - Adapt to changing roles and dynamic priorities - Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
Ideal Candidate
**Education** * Completion of a Bachelor's Degree that prepares the employee for the assignment. **Experience** * Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1 * Demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three-years of experience at Level 2 * Fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities. **Additional Information** - Strong z/OS, CICS, DB2, BMC systems and software knowledge is required - Strong and oral/written communication skills are required.
