Summary
The product analyst position requires a quantitatively skilled individual with an insatiable curiosity and drive for solving business problems by analyzing complex data, formulating conclusions, developing recommendations and implementing innovative solutions. This position leads the analytical efforts in support of profitable growth for assigned state(s). Directly supports the priorities set by the Product Manager, but with the space to exhibit innovative and creative thinking.
Responsibilities
* State Analytics * Performs routine product monitoring and commentary on trends * With minimal direction performs statistical analysis of production and loss trends, segment profitability, and general product model performance * Makes sense of data from various sources to understand trends and solve problems * Makes recommendations for pricing, product and marketing actions in support of state plan * Pricing Recommendations and Support * Leads state assessment of rate need through assessment of pricing indications, loss patterns, close rates, policy mix trends and performance against plan * Forecasts expectations for product and price changes and provide post-implementation monitoring * Competitor Analysis * Evaluates competitor product and pricing models to make price segmentation comparisons, head to head competitiveness and to identify concepts to research * Tracks and evaluates competitor rate change trends and market rate level
Ideal Candidate
* Must be proficient in Excel and strong technical aptitude is required, SQL and/or SAS programming experience preferred. * Must show ability to use judgment when data is incomplete or inconsistent * Needs to possess an appreciation of numbers and the ability to recognize patterns within data and have demonstrated problem solving skills * Bachelor's degree is required - with an emphasis in Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline. * Must have experience and strong skills in problem solving, communication and statistical analysis. * Must provide a demonstrated proficiency in developing ad hoc queries, building conceptual models, and working with large data sets in order to answer business questions.
