Summary
The DevOps System Engineer will collaborate closely with development and infrastructure teams to lead application releases and contribute to the improvement of the software delivery pipeline using their passion for technology, automation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
**Manage Releases** * Use strong collaboration, organization skills, and sense of responsibility to manage and execute on all aspects of a release. * Work closely with Managers, Project Managers, and Tech Leads to develop release plans. * Utilize a strong attention to detail to ensure high quality releases. * Work with other Release Management team members to creatively adapt the release process. **Build and Deploy** * Utilize or develop a passion for deployment automation using PowerShell scripting. * Administer source code management and build systems, including TFS, StarTeam, and FinalBuilder. * Deploy Windows-based web and desktop applications to both Test and Production environments. **Maintain and Improve Environments** * Be curious and tenacious in troubleshooting issues with the environments. * Collaborate effectively across infrastructure teams to provision new environments as needed. * Help establish our configuration automation capability using PowerShell DSC. **Establish DevOps Culture** * Work directly with developers to improve their understanding of software deployments and system interdependencies. * Act as a conduit between development, operations, and infrastructure teams. * Identify automation opportunities and take the initiative to develop solutions.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 1-3 years equivalent experience * Working knowledge of web applications and services in a Windows environment * Understanding of basic source code management practices (branch, merge, build, check-in, etc.) * Project leadership experience, or strong desire to learn * Scripting or programming experience, or strong desire to learn **Qualifications – Preferred** * Team Foundation Server (TFS) administration experience including builds, deploys, permissions, and branching * IIS administration and configuration experience * Working knowledge of networking / routing * Windows system administration experience * Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and/or Desired State Configuration (DSC) * IT change management experience * Familiarity with IT systems utilized in the insurance industry
