- Responsible for designing, engineering, administering, managing, analyzing and maintaining the successful and continued operation of the Rubicon Project corporate computer networks, including LANs, WAN, VPNs and remote access.
- Includes upgrades, installations and troubleshooting of networks and networking hardware devices, as well as connectivity of client and other computing resources to the network.
- Coordinating with vendors, providing network design leadership; assisting in identifying and building solutions. Testing new product features and functionality, providing deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications.
- Providing informal workshops to transfer knowledge to engineering staff.
- Applying industry best practices to the design, planning, and implementation of the network. Applying extensive industry experience to optimize network performance and proactively analyze potential enhancements.
- Evaluating technical specifications for interoperability.
Primary Work Performed:

Either directly or through supervised staff, this position has the following responsibilities:
- Provides high quality computer network expertise to the Information Technology department through leadership and guidance in the engineering and administration of the Rubicon Project corporate computer networks.
- Establishes standards and best practices for configuring, administering and securing company routers, firewalls and other network devices.
- Manages, monitors and maintains all of the Rubicon Project corporate computer networks and data circuits.
- Provides network performance monitoring, reporting, evaluation and optimization using industry standard network management tools.
- Proactively and assertively addresses issues as they arise. Advises management on networking requirements and problems and makes cost-effective recommendations.
- Develops and documents procedures for managing the Rubicon Project corporate computing networks, including documentation of firewalls, network diagrams and the development and testing of business continuity plans.
- Installs, configures and troubleshoots network hardware and firmware.
- Serves as a Level 3 resource for resolving network-related problems, both during and after hours.
- Coordinates with internal staff, vendors and consultants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in an information technology-related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (5+ years).
- Current CCNA certification, CCNP certificate preferred
- Minimum of five years network administration experience in a multi-site organization including hands-on experience in each of the following: Cisco and Juniper network device configuration and management; routing protocols; VPN; firewall; Solarwinds; VLANs; VoIP; QoS.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills including physical layer, cross-connects, demarcation points and experience working with circuit providers.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with various audiences.
- Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources.
- Must be able to remain composed under stress and take responsibility for delivery on commitments.
- Must possess solid problem solving skills and ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused manner
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and assist with other departments.
- Dynamic and static IP Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PIM Multicast)
- LAN, WLAN and WAN circuits and protocols (TCP/IP, 802.11a/g/n, Access Lists, VLAN’s, MPLS, VPN)
- Strong understanding of wireless security (WPA/WPA2, PEAP, EAP-TLS, 802.1X)
- Expertise on latest Cisco and Juniper hardware and operating systems
- High availability protocols (HSRP, VRRP)
- Monitoring Tools (Solarwinds, Netflow/S-Flow, PRTG, Syslog, Cat Tools)
- Skilled at packet capture and analysis
- Expertise in interfacing with carriers to manage circuit delivery, troubleshooting and migration
- Understanding and familiarity with Change Management processes

- Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups

- Maintain a “professional” appearance.
- After-hour, weekend and on-call work is periodically required.
