We have been named to License Magazine’s Top Licensee list nine years running. Ripple Junction is searching for a Part-Time Apparel Technical Designer. This positon is responsible for creating garment specifications, modifying current specs if needed, and assuring the overall quality of Ripple Junction’s apparel designs. The designer will work with the sales team to ensure that the customer needs are met, and keep track of approved customer specs requirements.
- Generation of tech packs per customer request.
- Recommends materials and design changes and reviews prototypes.
- Daily communication with the manufacturers to ensure that design intention has been met.
- Creates product development roadmap and calendar, prioritizes product development projects, and monitors project schedule.
- Photographs blanks for use by the graphic design team.
- Communicates changes to vendors and works to resolve any design issues that cannot be met.
- Assists in the maintenance and growth of the sample library.
Performance Objectives:
- Successful creation of garment specs, including grading, fabric callouts, trim details, and color selection for existing and new fashion bodies in development.
- Effectively communicating the design specs to the manufacturer to ensure a quality sample.
- Timely development of quality & cost effective products to the retailer through project and vendor relationship management.
- Clear communication with the Sales team to address any customer approvals, changes, or new requirements.
- Expand product sample library and vendor database in order to facilitate the efficient creation and sourcing of new fashion blanks for existing customers.
- Document garment blanks and create cads that the graphic design team can readily utilize.
- BA/BS or certification in Apparel Design, Garment Engineering, Technical Design, Fashion Design or related
- 3+ years’ experience in the apparel industry in a technical design
- A background in fashion design and consumer products, and MS Office experience.
- Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
